The materials for making kitchen sink faucets are mostly the same as bathroom shower faucets except for bronze and copper. Bronze tones are darker and give your kitchen a rustic look. Copper also comes in darker shades, but gives a nice, sophisticated look. These are the most common bathroom faucet materials.
Brass - is probably the most popular material. Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc with a characteristic shiny yellow color. It may have added aluminum for strength and corrosion resistance, and tin to prevent zinc loss from exposure to water. Both of these additions help extend the life of the faucet.
Stainless Steel - Stronger than brass, looks nice and elegant. It's a tough material that resists dents and scratches well. It does show watermarks and fingerprints, so if you like shiny faucets, be prepared to clean them regularly.
Zinc - Zinc has been a popular alternative to brass due to its affordability. Zinc is naturally dark grey but can be chrome plated and looks great! Zinc is highly corrosion-resistant and lightweight.
Plastic - is often used due to its low cost and ease of installation. Polyethylene plastic is a good choice because its cross-linked fibers make the body strong without fraying. It is resistant to chipping. They can be ordered in a variety of beautiful designs with trim on the knobs and other features. One downside is that mold tends to form between the plastic body and the knob, so be aware of that.
